Way off dirtbikes BUT would like some info

Postby DREWX440 » Fri Sep 11, 2009 8:25 pm

Hello fellow forum members.....Well I had my ACL reconstruction surgery and it went extremely well. Im back walking but in a brace and the doc said I can get back on my C'Dale when I feel comfortable......too bad the suspension is being revalved and such :(.....ANYWAYS. Now that Im healing up and can operate a bike and car, I have been looking into a street bike, mainly sport bikes. So I would like to hear your opinions both good or bad on what you've ridden, owned, raced, and what not. I have been doing some homework on 2006 and new Suzuki GSXR 750's. Im not looking for a powerband shredder or anything with a massive amount of power but something quick, agile, and great on gas. I tend to lean more towards bigger bore bikes. Fire away guys and gals.

Well I got out of sportbikes 15 years ago (f&*$ I'm getting old :( ) but had a 1986 Honda NS400R, 1988 Yamaha FZR750R and a 1992 Kawi ZX7R. The inline 4 bikes make a ton of power but need to be spun to like 15,000 RPM to get it. Had I stuck with sport bikes my next machine would have been a v-twin to get more useable torque in the midrange and sacrifice a bit of top end HP. Ducati's are basically sex on wheels IMO =P~

always wanted a Duc but they are just pricey. I rode the new 1198 and 848 this about two months ago and loved it. ALways liked V-Twins better but I am just looking for something cheap and good on gas. I have been lookin at the Suzuki GSXR 750. anyone know much about them? Problem years stuff like that? I would like the liter bike power and the nimbleness of a 600

I've had 4 gsxr 750's but that was years ago, all of them where 01' models. Great bikes all, but I had 2 600's before them and I'd suggest you start off with a 600 also. If you are really looking for a fun get around good gas mileage bike, try out the SV650's (I assume they still make them..). Great little V-twin with lots of lowend grunt and very forgiving.
