NEW BIKE!!!!

Postby DREWX440 » Thu Jan 07, 2010 4:12 pm

Just got home. I picked up a 2002 C440-R . Needs a top end rebuild it sucked a valve and the guy wanted nothing to do with it anymore so I have scored my 2nd cannondale now. I plan on doing Boomers fuel and air kit, fuel rail kit, switch to the 03 style on off switch instead of the red button, boomers axle adjuster upgrade and other goodies haha. Thinking while the motor is being rebuilt by myself that I might do a 490 bore from ATK. any thoughts or opinions on the bike? any cool ideas for my new toy? haha

Cannondales anonymous...

Postby funmachines » Mon Jan 18, 2010 6:58 pm

I think there should be a Cannondales anonymous group. I just bought a C440 rolling chassis myself. Now that makes an E440, an X440s, a Glamis (with a broken case), a disassembled Cannibal, and a C440 chassis, plus a bunch of parts. Did I really need it? - NO. But it was such a good deal...

I think I need help. I guess I'm not alone though.

Figure I'd update you guys on the bike. The engine was already pulled from the chassis so I started dissassembling my new engine and just checked the condition of everything.....IT LOOKS REMARKABLE....except for the two valves that forged themselves into the top of the old piston haha. Anyways, the clutch and gearing all look great and everything looks to be fine. Im awaiting an email or phone call from boomer on how i need to ship this thing to him so he can rebuild it and put a CP 450 piston kit in plus ship me all of the upgrades, air, fuel, and his newer oil boost whatever deal haha. As soon as I get another update on the situation I will let you all know. Any ideas?........Thanks!

If your not racing in a cc class, you can go the 460cc route. Its the same price.

Ya I plan on racing it though. Plus the CP kit is the most reliable according to Boomer. So i'd rather have the reliability in the woods haha

The most reliable piston is probably the stock Asso, but that is only 432cc. The most reliable 450cc is probably the CP like Boomer said.

That I know of, there has been no proof of less life from any motor combo,432 to 505. I run a 495cc in the dunes 100% and have never had a problem related to hp output. My wife runs the 460cc CP she ride her bike along with my bro dragging it often, again 100% sand. Yes as a rule the more hp the less the life, but I don't think we have really reached that point. Most parts should be replaced before they fail, stock or built. I'd be willing to bet the life of a stock ASSCO and life of CP are about the same.

ya but that measley 10cc gain is un-noticeable. my 432 has outlast my buddies factory built honda crf250r. and by factory i mean it was Trey Canards old bike but revamped by his mechanic team. i just figure get the 450 piston, make it a true 450 and still have it legal in the 450 class for crosscountry/harescrambles
