Official ATK/Cannondale Information

Postby jschner » Tue Aug 19, 2003 1:06 pm

Just received a call from Frank White owner of ATK and as of today ATK has officially bought the parts for Cannondale motorsports. However, the intellectual property is still up in the air and still owned by Pegasus.

ATK needs about a week or so to get things in order and they will start supplying parts to dealers, owners and other sources like cdaleparts.com and such.

When I hear more I'll let you all know. :flag:  :flag:

ATK is 30 miles from my house. They have been testing a big bore two stroke powervalve motor in a quad. Don't know how far things have gone. Lonestar was building the first prototype frame for the quad. This was back in Novemeber. Maybe those Maico motors are gonna find there way into the quads or just refine and improve our motors or both.. I was parked next to them at a local race and they were testing a new perimeter frame for the dirtbikes.. They have an awsome 50cc mini dirtbike and the new dirtbikes look great in 520cc 620cc and 685cc. All two strokes!!!!! ATK has been dead for five years, because Frank sold them to a corp, al la Harley Davidson back in the 70's to AMF, and the corp didn't do jack with anything so Frank bought them back about 18 months ago.. www.atkusa.com

Are they trying for the intellectual property too?

Remember guys, as said in my post above, ATK ONLY owns the parts! Not the motorsports division. The actual rights to build new Cannondale Motorsport products, or what ever they my be called, could easily end up in some other company or country's hands.

It ain't over yet. :?

Thats the way I understand it too. I don't want to throw a wet blanket over the news. Why would atk buy just the parts do they crossover with their stuff? Or are they doing it as a straight sales opertunity (they bought low and will sell high) ?

well guys.... I hope that some of you that had to wait longer for parts than you wanted... NOW KNOW what it is that I have been doing... This is huge news for everyone and the entire industry as well.
I have spent much time w/ Frank White both in person and on the phone... He is a geniune, honest,"straight shooting" kind of guy and I am honored to be working w/ him.
There are many plans, long term and short term... and so many different avenues to take that there is no real hard and fast plan for the future... Frank is a very smart man and knows the value of customer feedback and trust in a manufacturer... he wants very much to take the "OLD Cannondale" to the top of the market in the upcoming days, and he will listen to all of our suggestions for the future.
The here and now holds this for us... Parts will be plenty....both new and even new revisions and much more.
I am extremely proud to be working w/ an AMERICAN company again.... And because Frank values my opinion and help.... I will be spending much time between PA and Salt Lake City.... In Fact I will be out there, the majority of next week...
Ron will be taking care of the store.... so dont anyone get excited... it is still business as usual at cdaleparts.com
Everyone help me welcome Frank and ATK to Cannondaler.com !!!!

oldsandman - I think we all pretty much see Cannondale Motorsports as one thing but Pegasus sees it as many things and will sell it in parts to get more money. It is good that ATK got the parts because it's a move in the right direction. I'm sure they are working on the RIGHTS so keep your fingers crossed.

I am keeping them crossed! I guess I'm just disappointed that it wasn't the rights to build the bikes and quads. I've grown used to scrounging parts It's getting the whole package into production that really cocerns me.
Maybe I being naive in hoping that will ever happen.
