Awesome looking quad! It would be cool to have a rough estimate of where the weight savings came from if you could. Maybe a few others and maybe even the bike guys could shave a few pounds too.

Not sure what's up with the pics, possibly the file name? I PMed AR to me email me the rest and I'll check them out and post them when i get them.

Thanks! Abbott Rcing for sharing!

 Wow, great looking quad! I'd be interested in knowing what materials were used to get that frame to be so shiny?

Updated the pics. What an awesome set of quad pics!

Any chance of a general list of where the weight savings came from and the mods to the engine?

I am freaking out on this air filter set up..... and is that the fuel pump on top of the ECU? Please give us some of the details. You sure have done an awesome job on the quad.

TT QUAD

Postby ABBOTTS RACING » Tue Jan 20, 2004 5:52 pm

All right here goes, it is a 03 cannibal that we started with it was new and had never had a battery in it. We sent the motor to south bay when wade wilcox still worked there(he did build this motor) it is a full race 450 with maz map, ABBOTTs RACING 3rd gen air filter(my own design) Fuel pump relocated away from the rad heat to the in side of the hood were cool air only will move over it for a cooler fuel system and that means more HP, titanium header pipe with a GTthunder silencer, maz & i was thinking realistically 58HP. The frame i first started buy cutting every thing off of it that did not absolutely have to stay for TT racing (keep in mind this quad is purposely built for TT racing ONLY), when i was done cutting and polishing on the frame and subframe we weighed them and had cut 10lbs off and i was excited. As for the rest of the weight i looked at every piece and made it as light as it could be, lots of titanium bolts, and any steel parts were made in aluminum, the plastic as been cut, the seat is 2lbs lighter and i have a loanstar aluminum axle that is a 10lbs save over the stock, and the list just keeps giong. rear end and front end is all hand fab and much lighter. As for the polishing i started with a clean frame and with a DA sander i started with 400 grit then 800, 1200 and finished with 1600 doing all the area`s buy hand that the sander would not fit in to. When you get it real good with the 1600 it starts to polish at that point. Then get the best aluminum polish you can buy and start rubbing after that your done. I do a air filter set up alittle different than this one for $80.00 and all i need is your air filter base. I am not just clamping a air filter to the throttle body i make it use the air valocity tube and a exact lenght adapter to clamp the air filter to, it is really awsome. For max hp gains it needs the fuel injector flow rate 5% richer. As for the cost of this quad if i were to build one just like it for some one it would be a minimum $20,000.00 and this one is not for sale. SEE IT AT INDY DEALER EXPO. I also cut a deal today with billy at QUAD TECH on the hoods and he will tool back up and start making them again and they will all be sold through our shop only, if you contact him he will tell you to call me. Thanks i hope this helps, if i can do any thing for any one please call, my family has been in business for 55years(i am only 36) and we are looking forward to the next 55. This stuff is what makes it all worth doing. Thanks Randy
